Do you work for homeowners, or only builders?
Both. A lot of our work comes through builders as part of a bigger job, and a lot comes directly from homeowners opening up a floorplan. If you're going direct we'll be clear about which parts of the job are ours and which need a certifier, another trade, or an engineer where the job calls for one.
How do I know which service I need?
You don't have to. Most people ring because a room is too small or a wall is in the way, not because they've worked out it's a wall removal. Describe the situation and we'll tell you what it actually involves.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Quoting is free and there's no obligation attached to it. If we look at the job and think it isn't worth doing, that costs you nothing either.
What areas do you cover?
Right across Sydney, from a base in Dulwich Hill. North shore and eastern suburbs included. If you're not sure whether you're in range, ask. It takes thirty seconds and the answer is usually yes.
Do I need an engineer before I contact you?
Not to get started, and sometimes not at all. We can look at the job and tell you what it involves first. Simpler timber jobs can be sized from AS 1684.2 span tables, which saves you the engineer's fee. Steel, long spans and concentrated loads do need one, and we can point you in the right direction.
Can you take on part of a job?
Yes. We often come in for the structural stage of a build that someone else is running, and we're used to slotting into a program and coordinating with the trades either side of us.
What do you not do?
Plastering, painting, rendering and roof coverings. We frame, install steel and open up structure, then hand over to the trades that finish it. We'd rather say so upfront than take work we're not the right people for.
